Defending champions FC Bengaluru United notched up a come-from-behind victory against BFC, beating them 2-1 in the ongoing BDFA Super Division Championship. Irfan Yadwad, was the standout performer for the two-time BDFA champions, scoring a brace for his team (79, 89) to seal victory for them.

Both teams began the game in a circumspect fashion.  In the 8th minute, FC Bengaluru United had a half chance that Irfan Yadwad managed to hit only straight to the keeper. BFC seemed content to play the waiting game, trying to hit FCBU on the counterattack. The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute – BFC’s first shot on goal getting them on the scoreboard. FCBU continued to create chances through corners and freekicks – but were unable to equalize in the first half.

The second half saw FCBU try and attack more consistently, but initially, the script read similar to the first half – a series of chances that they were unable to convert. In the 79th minute, Irfan finally managed to convert one of his chances – a cross from Aenam K Jyrwa was neatly headed in score to the equalizer.  The goal seemed to galvanise FCBU; in the 84th minute a strong chance courtesy Ashok just went wide of the goal. In the 89th minute, smart play from Irfan saw him jump over the BFC defender and head the ball into the back of the net to get FCBU up 2-1 and sneak in a close win over BFC.
