Home / Who We Are
In January 2021, Sevilla FC, one of the giants in European club football, finalized a partnership agreement with FC Bengaluru United and Nimida Sports as part of the Spanish football club’s expansion plans to grow its brand internationally.
At Bengaluru United, the overarching goal has always been to contribute towards the development of the overall game of football – to go beyond just operating a professional team and creating a player development system that only focuses on competing and producing players. The idea is to foster a deep game culture through our identity, benchmarks and inextricable connection with the citizens of Bengaluru. We want to be present in the strongest traditional football communities and schools while operating our own centers to amplify the access and opportunities to players from all walks of life. To this end, Bengaluru United run football camps; the United Pro School focuses on talent development, while the United Pro Academy serves as the pathway to be part of a professional football team.
Another integral aspect of our culture we want to foster is our belief that football is an important enabler of sustainable development. We are probably the first football club in India to align its vision with the UN SDGs. In 2015 the United Nations issued an urgent call to action to all nations with its 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). We believe the tremendous potential that football has, to be used as an instrument to bring about effective social change, can be further enhanced to promote effective partnerships for the implementation of these SDGs. Through FC Bengaluru United, we plan to use football as a medium to encourage and inspire the youth to build a better life for themselves, to promote social inclusion and unite the communities in which they live in. Football can be used as a tool to promote quality education, good health & well being and help to reduce inequality by providing equal opportunities for children from different socioeconomic backgrounds.
